This DC-based cutting edge startup is currently looking to hire an Industry Analyst to support its analytics and data management initiatives. The position reports directly to the Director of Industry Analytics and has the potential to grow into a senior level analytics role.

The Industry Analyst will support all aspects of New Frontier’s analytics and reporting including data collection, analysis and proprietary content generation. Working under the guidance of the Director of Industry Analytics, the industry Analyst will:

• Update New Frontier’s existing datasets on a regular schedule or as new information becomes available
• Identify and vet new data sources relevant to New Frontier’s analytics and reporting requirements
• Develop analysis and reporting plans to achieve off-the-shelf and custom research project objectives
• Support analysis and report creation across New Frontier’s portfolio including, but not limited to: Overall industry and sector-specific growth, evolution of consumer product demand, state-specific factors influencing each market’s performance, growth and performance of marijuana stocks, and emerging opportunities in ancillary markets
• Support all aspects of New Frontier’s custom research engagements, including but not limited to background research and feasibility analysis, scope refinement, data collection and synthesis, analysis, reporting and deliverable creation
• Conduct analysis and create visualizations in support of New Frontier’s marketing and sales objectives, including the weekly newsletter CannaBits, video CannaClips, monthly investor updates, SWOT analysis, investor pitch decks and executive speaking engagements
• Provide research and analysis in support of ad hoc data inquiries, including data requests from investors, the media, paying clients and strategic partners
• Clean, format, and aggregate new data in preparation for analysis and ingestion into New Frontier’s

• A./B.S. in business administration, economics, social sciences, statistics, engineering, or a related quantitative or qualitative discipline. (Master’s Degree a plus)
• 3+ years of experience in market research, business analytics, management consulting, financial analysis and modeling, or related field
• Deep understanding of business, financials, public policy, or legal principals (preferred)
• Passion for using data to answer complex business problems and unveil evolving industry trends
• Ability to devise creative solutions when working in environments with limited access to data and variable data
• Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, staff, and external partners
• High proficiency working in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint and Word (required); familiarity with advanced analytics tools such as R, MATLAB, SAS or SPSS (preferred)
• Understanding of and experience managing relational databases NoSQL/JSON data formats (a plus)
• Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills to operate as an effective tactical and strategic thinker
• Self-reliant, proactive, extremely detailed, results oriented, independent worker able to keep up with a fast-paced environment while also serving as an entrepreneurial team player who can multitask when facing numerous competing priorities
